Without looking under the hood of a van I don't know how much room you have to work. The first thing is to get the filter housing out of the way. That makes the pump visible. There is a small cover on the front of the timing housing that has to be taken off to remove the drive gear bolt It is a good idea to drain and remove the oil reservoir to keep from making a mess when you take the pump off. Then there are 2 bolts holding the pump to the gear case. One fairly visible on the passenger side and the other tucked in between the IPR and the pump housing on the drivers side. When I checked with the dealer about the price of the pump for our truck they told me it was over $700 but you might be able to find a better deal online. The high pressure hoses also have to be disconnected. I think the book says you have to remove the turbo but it should be able to be removed without doing that.

Default ford e350 wont start

ran codes this morning first code p1668 second code P0470 any suggestions?

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

So far on this truck I changed the cps, with Ford unit. IPR was changed, when I took this out no oil drianed from IPR hole, checked level in HVOP and it was fine, has oil pressure when cranking, changed fuel filter, oil is rotella T. Van ran fine untill fuel was added then it started to sputter and lose power, when at idle it was very loud no it will not run at all

From what I have been able to find the p01668 code means the IDM isn't sending a confirmation signal back to the ECM and if it is running it isn't something to worry about. The p0470 is related to the exhaust back pressure sensor. It is most likely either a plugged line from the manifold to the sensor or the sensor is bad. It shouldn't effect the running either.

Oil should have run out when you replaced the IPR. It sounds like the likely problem is the HPOP. Checking the pressure on the high pressure port in the head would give you some valuable information to work with.

I just noticed that you said it ran fine until you added fuel. Did you check for water in the fuel system yet?

Will the IDM affect running as this will not start, also no water in fuel, has regular oil pressure when cranking not sure about high pressure, have to check that next, would the hpop go slowly or just completly quit ? thanks

The IDM is the module that sends power to the injectors to make them fire so if it isn't working the engine won't run. On our f250 the HPOP went partly bad and the truck would run OK sometimes and the next minute lose power or stall altogether. The way they are put together they cam fail all at once or just wear out over time and die slowly.

If it's a budget issue, take it to a competent shop and have it diagnosed...you're going to spend a lot of money throwing parts at this thing. Take the IDM out and shake it, see if it sounds like there's water in it.
