i actually tried hitting the doc/dpf units with a splitting mawl and it didnt help one bit...just left the thing looking alittle beat-on.....but i do agree that the dpf/egr/doc/crap needs to come off, be placed in front of a barracade and blown to bits.

you might try taking off the DPF and knocking it a few good times with it up on end to knock some of the soot out of it...should work to clean it a little atleast til you get your delete kits

benjamin you are right from what i have read in these post from others and the one that is haveing a problem....... it does sound like it does need to be returned to stock and go through a regneration process..... my wife drives an 03 7.3 stroke........ and one of my good buddies drives an 04 6.4 and he was haveing the same problem ..... i told him to run it stock and let it regenerate its self he did so and ..... along with that added 5" turbo back straight exhaust .... in to 6" stacks...... and no has no problem...... but the bad thing about running a straight exhaust with a ford is that the turbo/engine needs a certain amount of back pressure to keep the truck from doin what i call an up-down idle where the turbo and motor spool up and then down ...... if i was you snwlvr i would take what may seem like no advice ..... and give it a shot ..... there is only one way to find out what your problem is ..... so good luck and hope all goes well

i was expecting to have problems with the emissions equipment becuase of my thirst for power...you see this only being my second diesel, i am farely new to the game(although learning fast) i see the words "power adder" and the check book comes out before the sense kicks in to tell me, wait..did you forget about emissions control.....well after very little thought i opted to supe the crap out of it untill the thing plugged up..or what ever it is, and now here i am........i do have alittle advice for the new owners of the new generation diesel pickup.....dont waste money on B>S> power adders unless you have already removed the emissions equipment, and if you dont plan to ever remove it, then well....LEAVE IT STOCK and buy that mustang GT500 for kicks

hey man you can always get rid of the 08 and drop down to an earlier year where the emissions and things you can find ways past its still pretty damn new and aint much been gone through ..... i have always thought that the 7.3's where a better motor than the 6.4's the 6.4s usually have injector problems.... if one goes be sure to replace them all at once....

6.4L is my second...the first was an 04 6.0L and man was that thing a turd....was in the shop so much i was afraid to do anything to it..however when it ran it ran good and strong.....i still like the 6.4 better, a ton of power even stock and with some help holly sh--. a guy could really make one of these things blow the doors off about any truck, or sports car for that matter.......i hate the EPA
