Default Truck Died--No fuel to injectors

We were trying to move a 36' trailer loaded with stuff to our new house and about 200 yds down the road the truck died (this had nothing to do with being loaded). It hesistated a couple of times earlier today but I thought it was the transmission that occasionally acts up. I was wrong. A neighbor pulled it back to our old house, so we at least got it off the road.

Lift pump runs and squirts fuel out of schrader valve if you push it (I do not have a gauge to measure the pressure).

Cracked the 1st injector open and no fuel comes out when cranking on it. It spurted out some once and tried to crank, but died immediately.

So what's the opinion, injector pump or some wiring issue? If wiring issue, what do I need to check.

We can wait about 1 week to move this load, but I need to get this house cleared out completely by 6/22. New house is 2 hrs away.

If injector pump, how hard is it to change and reccommended source? It's in the street now, but could unhook from the trailer and get neighbor to pull it in driveway.

you need to check for codes, sounds like your IP is going out, which means your LP is also done. even though the LP (Lift Pump) is squirting fuel like you said doesnt mean your getting enough fuel to fire the engine. I would start looking for a LP i wouldnt recommend a stock replacement because it will just go out again (bad design) look for a FASS, Airdog, or Mitusa.

You also need to get a fuel presure guage too.

You need to scan the truck with an OBDII scanner.

These trucks have been around for a lot of years now - its ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL that you have a fuel pressure guage on a VP-44 truck - theres no excuse to not have one. I would not drive a truck without one.

I replaced LP about 40,000 miles ago proactively, so it's not the original.

Code P1693 (key trick worked). Now I have to find out what that one means.

The key trick did NOT work - thats useless. As I already said, you need a scanner.

P1693 is a companion code that means there is another code set - and you need a scanner to extract it.

You are going to need a scanner, probably an upgraded lift pump Airdog, FASS, MITSUA, and sorry to say, likely an injector pump (but thats a guess). dont wast your time and money buying a stock lift pump.

1693 is just telling you you have codes , your vp44 is dead , you have fuel to it but nothing coming out of it

sorry to hear this ! it sucks but happens to everyone , start a price quote request and get a rebuilt VP44

Yeah, I saw the post on the code after I posted. As half my stuff is already 2 hrs away and I have to be there for work tomorrow. I am probably just going to have my neighbor pull me to the shop a couple of miles away. They work on a lot of diesels and do not screw people--they will also put on whatever non-stock thing you want, as they also build drag cars. I simply do not have time to work on it right now.

Before I came on that's what I figured it was, but was hoping for something cheaper.
