Default Warmed Up, Died, Won't Start Again

Started my '88 6.2L Suburbun the other morning. Left it to warm up. It kicked down and ran for about another 10-20 seconds and died. Now it won't start. Fuel gauge reads 1/4 tank. Fuel pump is clicking away (2 year old "new" electric fuel pump). Batteries are newish. Had a problem with vapor lock on my '71 Chevy 1/2 ton the other day, so don't know if diesels get vapor lock or not, so I popped the gas cap (BIG gasp) and then tried it again. Still won't start. Just turns over and over and over . . . . HELP!

I haven't been close to a 6.2 very long ,but does it have the brass T fitting like the 6.5 does that you can bleed, the one you use to test the LP?

check your return lines if they are stopped up will cause blockage and it wont run pull return line off of pump and blow air through if it gurgles in tank its clear the try to start again with gas cap off cap messed up can cause fuel pump to pull vacuum on tank and starve it for fuel

Sounds like you ran out of fuel. Gonna need some more fuel, new filters, and also going to have to re-bleed the system. With the electric fuel pump, be a whole lot easier.

Remove the power source to the glow plug relay first. Replace the fuel filters and fill the one on the firewall with diesel. The one behind the intake, can leave it empty. Remove the line going into the secondary filter, and kick the fuel pump in. When fuel starts to run out kill the pump. Tighten the line and remove the fuel line coming out of the primary filter into the injector pump. Kick the pump in and then when you get a clear stream of fuel, re-tighten the line, but leave the pump kicked in for a min or two. That will help refill the injector pump.

Now the fun part. Remove the power source to the glow plug relay then (1) Crank it over for a few seconds, then (2) loosen an injector line anywhere one is easy to get to. Should be a little air/fuel spray out. (3) Tighten the line and repeat steps 1, 2, and 3 until good clean fuel comes out of the injector lines. Plug the power source back into the glow plug relay, then plug the power source back into the glow plug relay. Kick em in and crank it a few secs at a time until she fires.
