the relay will be hotter than hell too if it is stuck on , should be a sticker on the inside of the lid for the fuse and relay center, if yours doesnt have one i can find it on mine for you or look in my service manual

if the relay is staying closed, won't the light stay on? I don't know, just wondering

Dead Batteries 101. ALWAYS Start at the bat. #1 Grab a volt meter and get the rig started, #2 Measure the voltage coming out of the alternator, big post on the back to any ground, if between 14-14.5 Assume ok for now, #3 Pull neg. cable off one bat. and measure volt. between neg. cable and neg. post, do this for both if equip, if you read voltage than you have a paracitic drain, now move on to your grid heater and other common sources. If you dont read volt. button it up and go back to the alter. and have it load tested. 16+ voltage spikes sounds to me like you fried the voltage regulator

GOT IT FIXED!!! ended up being a bad end on one of the battery cables, replaced it and she fired up under her own power. went a head and put new ends on all 4 cables. thanks everyone
