Default Apps / VP44 bad, Both?

I have had a problem with "dead pedal" since i bought this truck, but two quick taps of the pedal and its right as rain (apps from what i've been told?). I also devoloped a hard warm start issue this winter (vp44 from what ive been told). I am getting the apps code 0121, but i have never had the VP death code or any other codes besides the apps. What are the chances that my Apps problem could cause the hard warm starts? I have a Apps orders threw blue chip and am ready to order an air dog as well as a vp44 if needed. I just wanted to get you guy's opion before I drop the cash! Thanks in advance for the intel! Not sure if my sig is set up right, if not, I have a 99 quad cab 2500 4x4 5 spd short bed.

I have both the APPS and an Airdog 150 on order. There are times I can drive down I-15 no load, pedal to the floor and not hit 60 mgh. I'll hold down the pedal (hope'n to avoid the embarassment of being pulled over for impeading traffic ), then out of know where something will happen and she'll threw ya back in the seat and take off a ****'n and gett'n. Does anyone know if this is also an APPS symptom?

Sounds like what I just had going on with my rig, mash it to the floor and it does nada, then all of a sudden BAM a bomb goes off. My APPS was way out of calibration. Calibrated, and it went away.
Just from personal experience the stock lift pump won't even supply enough fuel to keep the VP-44 happy when you are 100% stock. Airdog or FASS are well worth the money.

Will an APPS that is out of calibration throw a 0121 code? or does it have to be faulty to throw the code?

im not sure if it is telling the ecm that it doesnt have to power going to it, then it probably will throw a code saying the apps is getting intermittent power...there is a way to recalipbrate you can do some searching for adjusting apps on here and you can try that to get ya by until the new ones come it

re-cal the APPS

turn key on (dont start)
slowly press accelerator to the floor
slowly let accelerator back up to idle position
turn key off
start truck and enjoy

My Son in law lost all throttle to his 01, paid 160 bucks for a tow job back to house, I re-caled the APPS at his driveway in 1 minute and it worked, he was pissed he didnt call me

I've posted similar problem under "Power Loss" same forum. I have recalibrated my APPS and I still have the problem. I'm throwing Injection pump timing failure code. So I'm going to ask even if it sounds stupid, should I be thinking about replacing my APPS instead of the injector pump?

99 redram
somewhere on here i found a link to a page at blue chips in which the owner (i assume) was talking about all the codes and problems with the vp44 and apps.

I knew when i bought the truck the apps had a problem. You could be driving down the road and if you was slowly giving it fuel, right around 50-60% throttle it would act like the pedal came unhooked (for lack of a better term) and would return to an idle. If i was getting on it and mashed it past the 50-60% area, no problems. if it did kick out, I would let off the gas (i know its not gas ) and tap it to the floor twice and it would be back. I also had the 0121 code thrown when i test drove it, but It was steal of a deal so i picked it up anyway. The one glimmer of hope my VP is hanging on to is that I havent thrown a timing or voltage code for it, yet (knock on wood). I wish i could give you the link or where it was on here, but i really dont remeber, its rather informitive. Its basically a step by step, if you have this, than its probaly this part, if not, try this, and so on. Maybe one of you other guys know it? maybe just drop by there site and see if you can find it in there menus. Best of luck getting her back to top notch.
