Default Duramax losing prime

I've been having trouble with My 04 duramax losing its prime. It shuts down and I have to pump the fuel filter primer to get it to start again. Also Ifr it sits for awhile it wont start till I bleed it off then prime it. Fuel filter has come loose twice, cant seem to keep It tight. But it will lose its prime even if the filter is still tight. Could there be anything major that is causing this?

my 01 was doing something simialr to this. the bleed off screw on the fuel filter has an o-ring that had gone bad and it was causing it to suck air into the line. maybe this helps

How does it run when you put your foot into it?
High end fourth gear should tell the tale, if it lags or stumbles it could be the filter or bleeder screw.
The filter on my LBZ used too loosen off, I really wrench it on now and it's all good.
The filter system on the duramax is a suction system and it will try to suck air in anywhere it can.

Thanks for the reply's, It seems to run fine untill it sits for a bit after it been ran for awhile. Its been in my driveway now for two days and is still running fine. Seems like after I run it for a while it acts up. I'll try tightening the filter a little more and check the bleeder screw. Thanks again
