u need to loosen the motor mounts jack up the motor and put blocks or something to hold it up and take the oil pan off i had to do that to mine to change the gasket it was leaking

All the cases are the same... You shouldn't have any problem tabbing it. The rivets pop off sometimes too, but they ALL leave the factory with a Serial Plate.

im telling you man the way this thing is formed you cant use a flat tab to do it and get the bolt any way near tight.

Wonder if the case was switched with some other application... I've never seen a case like what you're describing.

i dont know. this weekend im going to pull the cam and pump and get it out of there. ill try and get some pictures of it so you can see what im talking about. im going to need to re time it right? how hard is that and can i advance the timing myself or do i need that special tool?

You need special tools. You can take it too a Cummins shop, or a Diesel shop, and they'll time it for ya. Make sure you mark the teeth then you pull the gears off.

my plans this weekend as to get that case off bu it didnt happen. i got the rocker towers off and all he pushtubes out but there is no where near enough room for me to put my dowls in 5 or 6 i can get them in but cant hammer them into the lifters. next weekend the motor is coming out and getting rebuilt im tired of screwing with it in frame.

yank the motor it aint that bad i just got mine back in, much easyer to look everyting over out of frame
