Default Daytime Running Light Help!

Ok, so my truck has DRLs, but in Canada, I'm not supposed to be able to turn them off....how do I disable the 'off' switch for the lights to pass an inspection? Dealership wants $260 for this crap and my local repair shop recommended going to the dealership...

Any ideas??

Why do you have to have a 2003 inspected?

I installed an upgraded light harness wghich made my DRL's never some on. So far so good.

Cops don't like vehicles that can turn lights off....I gotta get it changed so that I can't turn off my lights. I'm going to try and mess around with the switch so that the lights can't be turned off; just bypass the off switch so that I can only choose park lights, DRL, or low beams. I'm assuming I can do it at the switch...if not, I guess it means I'm going to have to screw with the DRL module... I can't seem to find any wiring diagrams or haynes manuals for my truck...so we'll see how it goes..there's no way I'm paying $260 for 2 hours of labour at the stealership just to disable the off switch...

Does anyone know how to do it?

Is this factory enabled?? What I mean, is...do the lights shut off, or have you disabled the DRL's?

I don't know anything about Canada but I can't see how they would fail a vehicle that is legally sold in that country with that feature. About the only thing I can think of is to take the switch apart and block the **** some how.

Hey guys,
My truck is actually American, I didn't realise there was a difference between Canadian and American DRL setups, I thought it was all the same junk...GM introduced DRLs on American models to cut down on having too many differences.... But yeah, in Canada, whenever the ignition is 'on', the lights must be on. Yeah the DRLs on GM trucks are on the bottom row I believe.

Unfortunately I can't just cover up the photosensor, because I can still manually turn off the lights with the switch.
