I am new at this.... I have 2000 5.9 24V with 139,000 miles. Replaced the VP 44 and lift pump July of 2007 due to bad lift pump (@ 107,000 miles). No modifications done via chips, turbos, etc.

Now getting a P0253 code from scan tool. No Check engine light comes on. Truck will not crank. "Wait to start" comes on then goes out like normal.

Power on to ACC 3x shows only P1693 code on dash.

When VP44 went bad, truck got the 1688 code and would crank but not start.

Any thoughts ?

 

You say the truck wont Crank , Wont even Turn Over ?

 

Nothing. I did the warm-up as usual "WAIT TO START" went out.... nothing when key is turned. No click or anything.

I tried several times with no luck...

 

hmm injection pump metering control A low
contacts in starter could be reason not turning over or maybe got a short
kinda new at this myself so just guessing myself

 

I agree with Busta...............also check batt cables and connections

 

Any updates??

 

Is it manual or auto? If its manual it may be the switch on the clutch that keeps you from cranking it without the clutch in. Or if its auto could be the same thing, you could try starting it in neutral

 

P0253 Injection Pump Fuel Metering Control "A" Low (Cam/Rotor/Injector) = VP44 needs replaced??

P1693 is a companion code.
