Have a guy at one of my shops that has a 08 Duramax and the water in fuel light came on and the truck would not start. Replaced the filter. Hit the fuel drain and got probably a gallon of water (had to drain it 3 times) now the truck is running but seems to have a stumble after been driving and then stopping at a light.

Any Ideas???

 

Something tells me that the rest of the fuel system ingested water.

 

i'd check the fuel in the tank. i'd put in something that will make the remaining water move through the whole system..... replace the filter again and prime the system. try that and see what happens....

or drop the tank, flush with diesel, put in a few gallons of diesel, allow the truck to run and circulate any bad water out of the system via the return line, drop tank again and fill with known good diesel and replace filter.....
