went and brought 2 more new batteries today, After installing them the engine spins over fine, the heavy sparking is gone! BUT the engine won't start it just spins. Any suggestions on things i can look for or check???? Thanks tony

It could be bad glow plugs or an EDM. Give it a shot of ether and see what that does. If it doesn't affect it on how it turns over, it's not getting fuel. Maybe from an EDM failure. If it does start, bad glow plugs or a wire didn't get hooked back up.

gave it a shot of either it made no diffrent. I did check the high pressure oil reservior it was empty. I filled it with rotella 15/40 oil then tried to cranked the engine after about 10 seconds of spinning the engine over it acted like it wanted to crank, but no luck with it actually running. WENT BACK AND CHECKED THE OIL RESERVIOR IT EMPTY AGAIN??????....TONY

Oil reservoir some sort of low oil shutdown?

Yeah this oil reservior is for the fuel injection system only....I had it towed to piedmount diesel service this morning,After explaining what was happening the technichian side it sounded like a computor problem... I'll post what they tell me soon as i find something out.......thanks for all the help cause i know i $aved a bunch of money doing the things i learned from the this thread....tony

Computer probably got damaged or something when the batteries shorted out.

Just recieved a call from the diesel shop they said #5 cylinder was bad !!! TRUCK RAN GREAT, don't believe that but could be true. he said they got it to crank but stop working when they heard the engine noise checked #5 compression blowing down in the pan. GUESS it's off to find another engine........thanks tony

Compression blowing down into the pan? Broken ring, maybe.

BTW, if one cylinder didn't have compression, you'd notice it while it was turning over. Might want to get a 2nd opinion.
