2005 cummins : 5.9 leaking oil
Good Morning Think tank : Thanks for allowing to join this group:
I'm having problems with my 2005 2500 4x4 ram 5.9 cummins: Early march of 2021 it started to smoke, grey but running great. Took it to local shop that works on diesels.
diagnosis: leaking valves and a bad injector. Truck has about 380,00 mile on it and all original. So head was redone and machined and rebuilt. While waiting, mechanic said it would be good to put new rings in and bearings. so he did. Also got 6 new injectors (Bosch). Since driving it home its showed over filled with oil and leaking. Same mechanic has looked and checked this over and over. He's put new breather filters in. New gaskets on valve cover. All this this because this is all coming from blowby tube. Under a heavy load, trailer full of cattle, it ran great at about 80 mph and no problems however the driver side under carriage, step rails, bumper, and trailer are covered in oil. Another thing the oil has been checked for coolant and fuel... its all oil. exhaust pipe is clean no oil. Blow by test at idle, cap loose and upside down on top .. no blow by. I was so mad when i hauled cattle that i wanted to blow engine but it runs great with lots of power.
yall' help is greatly appreciated and thank you.
oh.. 99% of the time the truck is hauling around a vet pack about 700lbs. and 99% highway miles. Maintained every 3000 miles since 05 .
