no poping. i can hear the exhaust leak and see it because of the smoke..... at idle it idles like it's skippin'.... when you hold it at 1000-1200 rpm it looks like it is going through an excercism.... it is shaking all around and making all sorts of racket......

UPDATE -
he took it to a semi-inteligent shop. they said that one thing was the bad exhaust leak where the turbo mounted up and that leak directed the heat of the exhaust onto the injectors on the passenger side of the motor. one injector they said was shot, the others were severly clogged...... and his turbo is shot has a lot of wobble front back side to side..... kind of like a dirty ole .....
anyway. he's on a lookout for a stock charger and injectors...... i'll re-update this when he gets those and hope that is all.

an update of it being fixed and what the problem was.
took it to a diesel shop here local to us. they pulled all the injectors to get them cleaned thinking there was a blockage in them and found that a tip off one was missing or damaged i can't remember what he said. they pulled the head to check for damage and found a valve in the same chamber that had a piece broken off of it. nothing else was found in the cyl. they assumed that it shot whatever pieces were in there out through the turbo. the turbo turbine wheel was damaged. the head was also cracked. replaced the head, injectors, glow plugs, and turbo and he was back on the road again.
