I went ahead and pulled the last two out. Gonna have them checked tomorrow. I'm on the hunt for a pressure tester for the sleeves as well. When the cover goes back on, I don't ever wish to see these injectors again. I'll post tomorrow the status of the last two injectors on the passenger side.

The remaining two injectors failed the Gap test too. I don't know the grading scale, but the first two were dead and these two just failed. So, that's the word from Dixie Diesel

I just finished installing the injectors and pulled the glow plugs to do some purging. I still have to torque the injector bolts but I don't have that tool here at the moment. I'll post more tonight when I fire it up.

I don't know if I stated it earlier, but truck has around 205k miles on it. If all 4 injectors were bad on this side, I'm betting the other side is pretty worn as well. I'll follow up tonight.

I installed the new injectors a couple of days ago. I had a heck of a time trying to start it. Actually fried my starter. Thought I caught the truck on fire but it wasn't on fire... Just melted it down. Lol. However, it didn't start thy day.

So part two...

I also replaced the block heater cause I thought it had died. Come to find out, it was the plug on the end of the wire was broke. So, replace the heater and the plug to help with the initial start post new injector install.

So before I attempted the first start with a new starter, I fully charged the batteries and I just so happen took a peak at the HPOP oil level.
First glance it looked just below the surface, but on a hunch, I slowly started poured some oil in the top plug. To my surprise, it held at least a half quart! I'm not sure if that's good or bad but that's what it held. So with that the HPOP should now be primed.

Conditions pre start were as follows:
HPOP primed
New starter
Fully charged batteries
Block heater on for 2-3 hrs prior

First start attempt. Just a few seconds. Nothing
Second start attempt. Bammm quickly fired up! Ran a little rough for a while and smoked pretty bad but it was started. Thank God!

However, I did develop a slight oil leak and it looks like some transmission fluid is leaking pretty good to. But all this was found post test drive.

I drove it around maybe 25 miles. Some blue smoke but not bad. Runs a lot smoother than it did. I just have to check these leaks out.

I parked the truck again for the day. I'm not gonna plug it in tonight. I will make sure batteries are good, and then we'll try to start it cold and see what happens.

I'll follow up tomorrow with the results.

Cross your fingers!

Update:

Left truck parked and unplugged for at least 16hrs.
I put the charger to it to make sure I was at 100% on batteries
HPOP was reprimed with just a little over a half qt. (this is a new concern)

This is it... Will it start for the first time in months with out being plugged in?

YES! It did. Wasn't even a long crank! Fired right up, BUTTTT it still ran rough and sounded like it had a dead miss to it. But it started. I wasn't able to drive it cause I found a transmission line the previous owner bandaged that failed yesterday so it's pouring fluid. I should have that fixed later today and we'll do another test start.

I hope within the coming wks l can replace the other 4 injectors on the driver side to see if this helps with the start and the rough idle on the front end. If it still runs rough after that I'll start looking at some sensors and see where that leads. I know I'm throwing a lot of parts at the truck, but I don't ever plan on selling and i considered it just a labor of love and hopefully this will prevent a lot of other problems in the years to come. (Hopefully :-)

Any suggestions on the HPOP prime problem, would be greatly appreciate it. However, if the start problem resolves itself after today, I will start some more research before posting an HPOP problem.

Thanks ya!

Truck started this morning without any trouble. Didn't prime the HPOP or confirm batt were super hot.

Truck started quick. Still has the rough run for the first 4 or 5 miles but then it runs perfect

The only caution I have at this point is the outside temps have risen and I know that's helping it but the truck is starting super easy though. So definitely a huge improvement with the new injectors. I'll close with that. I hope someone finds this thread helpful. I hope to replace the remaining four injectors next month to see if that cures the rough running.

Yet another update. Truck set parked for little over 24 hrs and it tried to start immediately but ran really rough for maybe 30 sec and died. Follow on starts became even more difficult.

I backed off and plugged it up for maybe 30 min (outside temps are still mild to warm). Out the charger back on to too batteries off a little more. Also checked HPOP fluid and it held maybe 3/4 a cup of oil.

Truck fired up but with some power this time. Still ran rough with a pretty bad miss until a pretty bad miss until about 5 miles worth of driving . I would say my initial issue is not yet resolved.

Areas still of concern.

The 4 driver side injectors
HPOP

Possibly IPR sensor

Any thoughts out there?

ICP arrived today. The old one did have some oil on the plug but it wasn't saturated. I don't know if it's gonna make a difference, but I'm gonna replace it tomorrow. Gonna replace IPR sensor next. I'll let ya know if it does anything to effect the cold/hard start problem.

Keep you posted.
