Hey man, I had a very similar problem. The exception was that mine would start after letting it sit any where from 15 min to an hour.
My problem was the fuel shut off solenoid valve. Had it replaced and no more problems.
Hope that bit of info helps you!
Motor on bro!!

Yeah man, I appreciate the input! I just don't even know where to start with this thing! I'vedone the filter change and checked to see if it was getting fuel, and it was. It sounds like its sucking air. It will start sometimes, then you drive it down the road it will die. Then won't start back up.

The next step will be fuel pressure gauge on the truck while the issue is occuring. We've had quite a few trucks develop suction side restrictions this year. Blamed it on cold weather, stuffed them in the shop for a few hours and added fuel treatment and sent them on their way. Not saying that's your issue but might be worth looking into.

Checked that out man. No luck there. Its really weird and starting to frustrate me! I have replaced fuel lines, fuel pump, new filter, its getting fuel in the bowl with the key on, the fuel is not gelling. Its got anti gel. Idk where else to look. I put a new starter on it (needed one anyways) but other than that, I'm stumped.

Here's what happens: I plug the truck in overnight. In the morning I will unplug it, get in, wait to start light goes off pretty quickly. I turn the key, the motor cranks but will not start. There's fuel in the bowl. I will then check the filter housing to see if fuel is cycling. It is. I will get it started once in a blue moon. I'll go half way down the road and it will die. It will not restart. We spray a very minimal amount of ether in it and it will start up but then die shortly after. I hate using ether and will not use it again.

Is there a reason you don't want to take it to a shop?

Shops are very expensive, I don't trust any of them. Been there done that. Bad past experiences. I will never take my truck to the dealer ship. I have a pretty good mechanical background. Just newer to the diesel world. I know the lingo and what you're talking about also. I know taking it to a shop would be the logical, quickest way to get it fixed. But I also like to learn and work on my vehicles when they experience problems. I do have a pretty fancy snap on scanner. I've read the codes over and over.
