Adjusters backed all the way off they won't push the valve at all or shouldn't

I've got one at the shop. I'll look monday , I've done hundreds of em and I honestly remember that backed all the way down they atleast come up enough to put pressure on the push rod. Then again I never back them all the way down.

It's been over a year since I've worked on one now that I work in sales. But even if it just barely pushes it down it would be the right cylinder it's pushing since the am wasn't removed

Right, I'm just saying that if you're at tdc, the lift is high enough on the cam to prevent adjustments on the set that's adjusted at bdc. Even with the adjuster all the way out them cam would atleast put slight tension on the pushrod. Atleast I think. I may be wrong .

When I put it together I put each pair of rockers and push tubes in 1 cylinder at a time from front to back. I back each set off to closed on the engine then set each pair with just enough lash to hold everything in place while i rotated the engine over on the balancer. Then went back and started lashing valves. It spun over fine like that. I'm left to assume its valve lash. But even so, it only made a 1/4 turn on the balancer before it "locked up" and the adjusted valves have barely if at all began to move.

Ok, so I went ahead and backed off all the valves. Still won't budge. I can spin all the push tubes freely in the head. I really hope I don't hafta pull the head. I Pulled it once already for this issue and I really hope I won't hafta do it again.

For this issue? Are you sure you don't have a kdp issue or something unrelated to the hg job?

I believe I found cylinder 6, intake valve to be the problem. I double checked everything and found it was still adjusted. I loosened it and get about another 1/4 turn out of it and it looks like that valve is open again. But I don't understand why its doing this. Could a push rod be binding up? Prev owner said the KDP was killed. I'm hoping he wasn't BSing

Ok, got the thing spinning over again. I'm going off the bolts on the balancer, is it normal for it to be kinda tight? Could it just be because the valves aren't opening fully?

It will be tight even with them open fully when you come up on a compression stroke. When you loosened number 6 did it start moving?

Yup, got it moving again. I really don't get what its issue is. I called a shop today (he checked the timing in the truck when I first got it) and he said I should go off the valve cross method. I'm gonna try that tonight when help arrives. I hope this solves the final problem and I can get this ole girl fired up.
