Default 05 F250 6.0 lost Reverse

I just put $6 grand into EGR delete, new stainless 4" exhaust, cold air intake, coolant filtration system, new oil pump and SCT tuner program about 650 miles ago. The truck has 73500 miles on it and it is garage kept (yet the rear quarter wheel openings still rusted through). Used as daily driver to and from work with no load for first 5 years, but now only used for towing our fifth wheel camper and occasionally a 6,000 pound skid steer loader.

Last week reverse went out without any warning. I am having trouble finding a transmission shop (Southwest PA) that will agree to work on it and I just got a quote from local Ford dealer of $2600 for the rebuilt tranny part, but I am hesitant to let Ford work on it since they do nothing but rip us 6.0 owners off on a regular basis. I've neer owned anything but Ford trucks for past 30 years but I am so tired of gettin' screwed with this one!

Anyone have any thoughts (other than I should have traded it in) about repair vs. replacing with a rebuilt and a total cost estimate would be really helpful!https://www.dieselbombers.com/images/smilies/stars.gif
Thanks! ThinBlueFordguy

Yep, that right, just a few dollars less than $6g's. That obviously included all labor! Do you have any experience or thoughts with the no reverse in tranny issue?

I would find someone parting out a truck and throw a used tranny in there, you can pick them up for $1000. there was a issue with the late 04 to mid 05 trans, there was a nut that could come loose, or it might have been a snap ring or something,, normally it would give you a sign before it failed completely, the truck would jerk and kind of bounce when backing up. Thse trans are pretty tough and there are many stock trans out there still going after 250k. most guys with Dodges would have put 2 or 3 trans in by that mileage..

those shift solenoids are notorious, as well as the electrical connectors, we just had one rebuilt they claimed they put a new solenoid pack in for 300 they didnt, the connector on the trans had a pin rotten in it they gave us a whole rebuild with no converter, for ***** before we threw the 2nd one in we checked out the solenoid pack and found the rusty busted pin, before you change it out i would check the connectors and the solenoid pack voila a free tranny we sold on craigs for 1100 cuz some dumbass didnt do a thorough job
