Cummings 7.3L Leak / High Oil Level ?!?!
Ok here is the deal, I just bought this Ford F650 with a 7.3 in it. It has a leaky oil pan and when I 1st got it 1 month ago it required me to add 1 or 2 qts every 100 or 200 miles.. NOW after going about 500 miles this week with it it appears that it is no longer asking me for oil its as a matter of fact OVERfull. The LEAKY oil pan is still there dropping what i can only assume after 500 miles was at the very least 2 quarts of oil out of the pan. BUT the oil stick says its OVER FULL now. I am confused. There is NO Cappuccino on the stick but the water level seemed to be a little lower than normal when i parked it last. IF there was WATER in the oil i assume and correct me if I am wrong i would see Cappuccino but i see no Cappuccino on the stick and I am confused. How would I tell if there was FUEL in the oil in my back yard? and if there is what is this a sign of? Also how much WATER or FUEL will go into the oil before it stops feeding into the oil? etc? I am trying to get a grip on whats happening here. Thank you in advance for all your help!

Got this quote that may help, take a "clean piece of white paper put a drop of oil out your engine on the paper a drop of clean oil and a drop of fuel the the fuel in your oil will make a lighter ring around the dark oil spot the other drops clean oil and fuel are just to help u compare what u are seeing".
I hope you get this fix.

Does the dip stick smell like Diesel or the oil smell like diesel? You may have an injector stuck wide open and she may be dumping fuel into your pan.

The stick does not smell like oil AND you will be amused to find out that it is NOT a cummings 7.3 its a International 7.3.. MY mistake as the DEALER FORDs SERVICE department told me it was a cummings engine but AFTER I took it to cummings to have them look at the oil they told me that it was in fact NOT a cummings motor. SO that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside that the dealer does not know what engine is in it and I even gave them the vin # when I asked...
Anyways.. let me know what you think.. Still having the same problem.

The 7.3L engine had a LOT of irritating characteristics. Not because it's an inherently bad piece of machinery. Navistar (new name for International Harvester) actually produced a good engine, but, it was GOOD in one of their own trucks, with their own electronics, and in compliance with the EPA's standards for the size trucks Navistar produces. (When you're in traffic, and you see a Navistar that says "T444E" on the side, that's the same engine HARDWARE that you've got.) The issues arise when forcing that engine to play nice with Ford's software, which has to comply with the EPA's standards for the size trucks Ford makes, along with having to get along with Ford's auto trannies' programming.... There's a lot of guys that can describe them and their fixes. I'm not one of them. HOWEVER, the fixes seem to be solid, and result in happy driving. And, with all that having been said, the one glaring bit of inexcusability was the bolts falling out of the turbochargers. That was a Garret thing, rather than a Ford thing or an IH thing.
