Ghost ignition problem
I recently purchased a 2006 Dodge, 3500 Mega Cab with a 5.9 Cummins engine. It has an intermitten electrical problem that my dealer is having a tough time solving. The engine starts and runs fine, but while driving loses all electrical functions (dies) for a split second. If at a stopped psotion it will die completely, but restarts easily. If driving, the tach drops to zero, but then resumes in a split second. If on cruise control, it clears it and has to be reset. I've replaced several of the sensors, such as the Temperature, Fan Clutch and Transmission Range sensors, but the problem continues. I've also noticed the lights will blink off and then right back on every once in a while. Has anybody else had such a problem? All suggestions would be appreciated. By the way, the truck has only 40,500 miles, but is off warrenty due to age..... Alaska Mike
I think i would set a scope up on my pcm or ecm power circuits and ground circuits. If you find a issue when the truck dies it will give you direction. Ive had asd relay contacts burn up and have intermittent power loss. Unless they've got a scope on the truck these can be very difficult to find. A scope will be your best friend
