Default no acceleration, sputters

Hi All!!

searched the world over and cannot find anything like this posted anywhere.

Have a Dodge 1998.5 3500 4x4 Quad automatic that will not accelerate. it starts and idles just fine, push the pedal and it spits and sputters, will not get over 1000rpms like limping.

i drove it to work, ran fine, backed into parking spot, turned it off, got out and noticed i was not back far enough. started it back up (about 45seconds from turning off) backed up and noticed check engine lite. I tried to rev it and it will only spit and sputter, but idle fine.

have not scanned for codes yet, don't think i can retrieve without tool.

Things i've done to this truck.

purchased with 136,000 miles, had been sitting for 2 years now has 195,000

when first purchased tc lockup "search" was a problem. added a filter at ecm and helped, but would not downshift. i removed the filter added a ground from batteries to engine and wrapped alternator ground with heavy foil has worked fine since.

about at 150,000 the lift pump went out, replaced with inline has been working fine, i've changed fuel filter a few times which looked fine.

since it has developed this problem i have:

changed fuel filter (looked good) bled system
adjusted apps, was at .21 sticker has .530 adjusted to .525 far as it would go.
checked and cleaned grounds, ecm plugs, apps plug

it will start just fine, just will not accelerate over 1000rpm ahen you try to accerate, it spits, sputters like crazy.

any ideas are greatly appreciated

you can go to autozone and they can read the code, but if you can pull the code that would be great. But sounds like a fuel issue...

i had the same issue, check codes even if the light isnt on, if there is a P216 which is injection pump timing is off/out (i dont remember exactly) i would say you vp is out check your fuel pressure at the schrader valve at idle and wot. At wot i would say no less than 7psi and thats pushing it. i had a code when the light was off. and i has the same spit and sputter, i also had a dead peddle. let us know
