Newbie intro / Starting 77 RV Conversion
Hi Guys....
I've got a classic 32ft 77 Dodge Flagship Motorhome in excellent shape with only 17K miles on the clock... unfortunatly it's powered by a gas sucking 440-4 that cripples my ability to take it out of the state.
I snagged a 1990 Isuzu NPR with a Remanufactured turbo 4BD1T engine from a company I worked at recently.. and was looking to do a transplant...
I was figuring on using the Isuzu Engine and tranny and keep the original Rockwell 4.88 geared rearend in the Dodge.
The 4BD1T has 121 hp @ 3000 rpm and 232 ft-lb @ 1800 rpm
The 440-4bbl has 230 HP @ 3600 & 350 Ft-lb @ 3200
I know the specs are no where clode to each other, but I'm not looking to drive this thing across country, I'm just looking to get it up to 55 for a couple hundred (pretty flat) miles every few months.
Any advice from those who have "been there/done that" welcome
Terry
