Default Hello everyone from a diesel nuebee

Hi, I'm new to the site and new to diesels, pretty much. I have been a loyal follower of FordTruckEnthusiasts for several years, so when I got my new truck I knew there was an equivelent Dodge diesel site out there somewhere... I think I've found it here. I have found a lot of good information already in the last week I've been lurking.

I have to say I loved my '99 Super Duty, but wanted a newer truck and a little more towing power. My budget would have put me into the 6.0, and I did not want to face the potential problems that motor is well known for. So I started looking at Ram's, and kind of fell in love with the trucks. I wanted the 5.9 because of its reputation, and found one I think I can live with comfortably, I hope. It's a 2007 (January), 2500, QC, SB, Big Horn, 5.9, Auto, 4x4, limited slip rear end, (not sure of the ratio, where's the tag?). Its a one owner truck with
46k on the odometer. I don't think its been abused in any way, I got the paperwork for all oil changes, and the 30k service all done at selling dealer. I'm quite happy.

I also have a small John Deere tractor with the 3 cylinder Yanmar diesel. That motor has been flawless in the 5 years that I have owned it, so I still don't have much experience with diesel motors. Just driving a little, and that should tell you something about one of my hobbies.

I like to my own work, but I'm not a trained mechanic. I'll be asking a lot of questions. Not really ready to hot rod this truck, but I know there are filter and intake improvements, etc to help with longevity, and mileage both of which are important to me. Hopefully some of you will point me in the right direction, and I hope I can eventually help others too.

Thank you in advance, and it's good to meet ya'll

Thanks 2004LB7 I am hopping so. You never know till you have it for a while. My biggest concern is that he didn't hurt the injectors with poor driving habits, ie not draining the water out of the fuel filter, said he never had too.
