Unfortunately those trucks are just flat out turds. Not much can be done in the way of performance either, since they like the "window block" mod... 200rwhp is pretty much maxed out man.

There were some photos and a little info floating around the web for a while about a monster IDI built by Max Legod from hypermax... HP rumors bounced around but some said it was up in the 1200rwhp range. Originally built to shut up the gas guys at the sled pulls (diesels basically didn't exist in competition back then) and then they outlawed it, so it went to the track. My understanding was the power was too much for it as it would flex the block enough to pop freeze plugs out quite frequently.

Your best bet would be to find a 12V cummins to toss in there, or some other diesel. Even a DT 360 would be cool (and more stout than the almighty cummins).

Welcome to DB!

Welcome! If it were my truck, I'd make sure any maintenance items (belts, hoses, fluids, etc.) are up to date, then drive it a bit, see how it handles with the power you have. Then update the tires and cosmetics accordingly, maybe boost the power or swap motors if necessary later. 'Course that's just me, I'm more interested in reliability than maximum power. There's plenty of information on the site, and I'm sure you'll get plenty of feedback from other members.

Yeah ima build it slow. I used to drive it 4 years ago. It was pretty reliable. Only 145,000 on it. Right now its parked at my dads shop cause I need a injector pump. Other than that its pretty sound. I gonna roll it as it sits for a while before it gets any love. I wanna make sure its till gonna roll reliably for at least 4 months. I was curious bout how hard swapping a powerstroke in it would be. I know whereone is sitting wrecked. But that wont happen for a while. Im more of a fan of the strokes but I wanna keep this.one around mainly cause it was m gramps. Now dont get it confused. Hes still around haha. He just cant drive a manual trans anymore. Haha
