I think its a 6.L I know its a V8 Turbo 4X4 it that helps.

I have noticed it has been blowing white smoke when I first crank it (sometimes) but not all the time. and sometimes if I let it set for more than 2 to 3 days it gets hard to crank.

when I had the oil changed I had them change the diesel filter. Also, when I brought the starter to the part place they said it was bad. Do you think that from me trying to crank it up so much it went bad?

OH THERE IS A GLASS LOOKIN CUP WITH A RESET BUTTON by the air filter, and the glass is broke... anyone know what that is?

thanks for all the help

Also, when I brought the starter to the part place they said it was bad.

still won't crank it turns like it wants to but it just turns very slowly...

There so many causes of why the truck wont start, and excesive cranking can overheat and kill your starter. The problem can range from batteries to bad injectors or computers. I wish you lived up the street I come and help diagnose the problem. It may be cheaper for you to just have a mechanic look at it. To answer your question the transfer fuel pump is underneath the driver door inside the frame of the truck. The transfer pump transfers fuel to you injection pump there for creating the pressure needed to fire injectors on you diesel. White smoke during start means its trying to get fuel to your cylinders to fire the truck. you may just have a bad crank sensor or bad high pressure oil pump im bettin the crank sensor. If you can find a diesel mechanic or ford dealer to look at you truck and help diagnose the proble they may be able to find it as easy as using an OBDII to find you issue.

By the way the glass on the airfilter is a check system to see of your filter is good or needs to be replaced if it broken its not any huge issue as long as you are good at maintaing you air filter as blowing it from the inside out or just replacing it every oil change or so.

Angel, White smoke means your truck is trying to get fuel so your getting something. Your fuel transfer pump is located underneath your truck it is possible to check these I cant realy tell you how to do it but you can go to a autoparts store and get a manuel. I realy belive you cranksensor is bad, you would have noticed lack of power in your truck if you where have fuel pump issues. You may also have a pluged fuel filter they have to be changed every 15000 miles both secondary and primary filters your primary in your transfer pump. As for the glass bowl on your airfilter its to check the status of the air filter is it needs changed or is still good its not a nesccesity to have as long as you perform reqular maintaince checks. Hope this helps

thanks y'all.. but i really need to fix it. I just moved and I don't know anyone here in this town, so I'm pretty much own my own the guy that towed it said to be careful who worked on it b/c he didn't think there were any techs here only shade trees . Also, there is a man here that has offered to help me fix it but i have to buy whatever i need of course. he has looked fixed the started and everything else but it still won't start up.
So any other suggestion's would be great!

If a AC compressor go's out, will that stop it from starting ???? thanks

Oh, I'm a single mom so I don't know much about my truck it has never give me any trouble before. I keep it tuned up regularly

the man that is helping me said, " the clutch on the AC compressor is bent and the compressor is not turning at all" He said that he thinks that is my problem.!!! I sure hope so!

Yes that would make it hard to start the truck if the A/C compressor clutch isn't turning

That wont keep the truck from starting if your ac clutch is stuck you should hear belt squeling. Like I said I belive its either your crank sensor. Here one way to test one thing when you crank the truck does your rpms go up?
