If you're going to keep it mostly stock then any of the "Big 3" should do you fine.

The Duramax is a fine motor and takes to modifications pretty well while still providing good economy and reliability. Their trucks have an excellent interior also. You need to decide your feelings on IFS and that'll be your own personal decision.

The 7.3l is a good motor with good reliability and decent fuel economy. As said it takes more effort to get some big power out of them but if your staying stock then that doesn't matter. I love the look and interior of the Super Duty. The 6.0l is a whole other can of worms. You need to do your own reading on its history and make your decision based on that.

The Cummins is also a great motor. It takes power modifications fairly well and seems to offer the best fuel economy of the 3. It's also VERY easy to work on. Depending on year and power plans you'll need to upgrade the fuel system and the auto trans pretty much instantly. The 3rd Gen Dodge trucks seems to have a decent interior and sure look nice but the 2nd Gens are really cheap IMHO. The interiors use hard cheap plastics and the bodies are prone to rusting out. Steering and suspension components are also prone to failure because they are cheap, cheap, cheap. Basically you buy a Dodge for the Cummins and try your best to live with the wrapper it came in. I know I'm trying my best.

Hope this helps.

And welcome to DB.

I love the Chevy interior, very comfortable, but my last 2 have been dodges, even though they have their quirks I still love em! Made me a better mechanic!!!
