We live in British Columbia Canada.
Worked for B.C. Ferries as Diesel Engineer for 32 years now retired.
Worked a few years for Fred Holmes Fuel Injection as well.
Still do some mechanical injection pump rebuilding ( after rebuilding I send out for calibrating of the elements, as I don't have the test stand for that now) .. Still rebuild and balance mechanical injectors in my small shop.

Good stuff! have you been on the new german built boat? It rides nice in the open water, but it sure is rough taking off!

They should have been built here i say.

I have not been on the new German Built Vessels.
If I remember the specs they are powered by 8 Cylinder Mann Diesels in the range of 30,000 BHP You could hide the whole mercedes 300 td engine in the cylinder bore on one of these engines.

One of the main reasons they were not built here is, we no longer have an operating ship yard that can build that size vessel. Cost effective also I also would presume as well.
