I dont know that exact specs on the truck From what Ive heard he built the truck himself but some performace work done at the shop. Every time I watch that vid I am tempted to sell my truck and build one like that. Be sure to take lots of pics when the time comes for your swap i kick my self for taking limited pics on the last build.

Yeah, I'll definitely take pix when the time comes. Without posts with pictures, it would be harder for guys like me to start. The more I dig here at this site, the better it gets. I haven't even scratched the surface yet. I can see a ton of knowledge here to be gained and I'd like to pay it back when its my turn. I just can't wait to be part of the diesel crowd. I learned to love diesel as a little kid when I went with my Dad driving in his "Puppy dog" pulling the coal bucket. Man, I miss those days.

if you're talking about brothers diesel that truck now has a cummins sticker in the rear window and is located on rt 240. used to be an idi w/ manual trans. now he switched to automatic. he's got a **** ton of money in that truck for it to do that. i've heard good and bad about brothers diesel. they have there clique and even the guys in there click have been havin problems lately with blown trannys and whatnot

Hey secondhandsmoke, aren't Brothers Dodge guys? I thought I heard that last year during deer season at the bar my cousins and I live at during hunting season. I heard that they'll work on non-Dodge stuff but bust ***** on the Ford and GM guys. What kind of truck did that upstate guy have? But now that I think of it, we may not be talking about the same shop. I plan on doing the swap myself with the help of neighbors and friends. Thanks tiremann. The suburbs just south of Buffalo got hammered starting Wed. Dec. 1st until early on Friday Dec. 3rd. I am originally from Lackawanna which is a small city that borders Buffalo (remember the "Lackawanna Six")? Lackawanna received damn near four feet of heavy, wet snow that was a pain in the n**s to plow. It was damn near impossible to plow but if there was any wind at all, we all would have been screwed. I must have got stuck at least eight times and had to dig myself out. That's never happened to me that many times before. There were loaders and dump trucks in our city for at least a week removing all the big piles to make room for future snow. All the side streets were done with loaders. Crazy. The band of lake effect snow was 13 miles wide and did not move that far north or south which kept Lackawanna in the band at all times. It has snowed a few times since then but nothing near as bad. I live in the traditional snow belt area about 17 miles south of Buffalo and we received about 5 - 6 inches during that storm. We have received more than that since then but nothing crazy. Also been damn cold too. What kind of snow you guys been getting down there?

About an inch of snow on the ground here, but I can drive 20 miles to Warsaw or 50 to Rochester and see all the snow I want to, that lake effect can really hammer one spot and 10 miles away nothin. Merry Christmas

looks like ur gonna have a cool project on your hands.

i eventualy want to build a 97 f350 4 door longbed with a 12v and a 6 speed trans.

As soon as I read your post dude, I know the exact truck you're talking about because I've seen it many times. I live in Colden and pass that truck when I take 240 to Springville. As a matter of fact, I talked to a guy from Miller's Farm on 240 that knows him because I told him about my swap plans when the wife and I went to buy compost from the farm. He said the same thing...that the guy has a ton of money invested in that truck. I know that the adapter plates are BIG $$$, the tranny controller $$$; the different valve body and torque converter that I would need too. Not cheap for sure. At work now and just found the site. Yep, these are the same guys I heard about last hunting season. Very partial to Dodges from what I heard from a Ford guy. Thanks for the info, Prison. Appreciate it.

Thanks biged. Nice to meet you. When my kid's ready to drive the truck, maybe I'll want to do another F series with more room. I will have to get another truck to drive. Who knows? I am partial to that truck though.

ah miller's, my camaro is in there wrecking yard, has been since i totalled it in march. where abouts in colden are ya from? i was just out there by kb. i live in hamburg and go to school in springville. Gambino seems nice and all from when i talked to him but he wants a lot for what he does and to hear he's been half assin it lately just doesn't sit well with me. he is a dodge guy definitely. up at the shop thats all that was in the yard. depending on exactly what you want to do you can basically do it yourself for cheap. Fordcummins sells kits and as far as install you need a cherry picker or chain hoist depending on the space your working with. i work in a garage and i'm putting a powerstroke in an 85 f350 and i cant use a chain hoist so i have to use a cherry picker. then it comes down to the tools you own. unfortunately i'm finding out that a lot of the tools passed down to me are standard and i dont have all the metrics i need so ya gotta figure in the cost of tools too and the amount of time but in the end you'll know you didnt cut corners where if you send it to brothers diesel right now you cant be sure.

Originally a "citidiot" from Lackawanna, I moved out to Colden about 3.5 yrs ago. Live by the old Colden Mill that is now closed. My wife used to rent a house in Crane Ridge across from KB. The guy from Miller's said that the dude with the black F350 has a ton of money in that truck and apparently the tranny doesn't shift perfectly with the controller that he has for it. He said I'd be better off buying a Dodge with a Cummins already in it. But that's where I don't like being told what I should do. I know he didn't mean anything by it but that's where I like the challenge. And I'm sick of hearing, "You're nuts." "Buy a new truck." etc. etc. My truck is a plowing machine. With the Cummins between its frame, it would just be sick and different. Plus I would more than double the crappy mileage I am getting now and not have a truck payment. And I just love my big blue FORD. Hey, where's Miller's wrecking yard? Never saw it before.

This would be the most involved endeavor I have ever thought of taking on but you know what..."What the f**k?" Why not? I'm building what I want and gonna use. Not what others think I should have or be able to afford. Not looking to sell it later and make money...would lose it. Just want to drive it and enjoy it. Then pass it on to my son.

I wasn't really thinking of taking it to Brother's. I just don't know much about them. Besides, I don't think that their hearts would be into it with my truck being a Ford. I think there's enough info here on the internet to use to my advantage. I'm a DIYer. I'm not afraid to learn something new. Mechanically, I am doing more now than I have ever done before and I enjoy doing the job myself and saving money. I still have to do the head gasket and timing chain on my 1988 4runner. That's a cool little truck.

I have been on Fordcummins site before and saw the parts they sell. The only thing I would not buy from them is their adapter plates because you have to cut into the bell housing of your transmission so the starter will clear the case. Destroked is where I would buy my tranny adapter plate. If I stay with my E4OD, I would also need a new torque converter, valve body, and tranny controller. Big bucks I know. I like having the auto for plowing as the lot I plow is sizable but not overly huge. Might be a pain with a stick. Don't get my wrong, I like sticks because my 4Runner is a 5 speed. I want to go 12 valve but I got a line on a 99 24valve. We'll see.

My garage is not big enough to put in a chain hoist. I'd probably be going with a cherry picker too. Need to acquire that as well. I have a decent set of tools but not complete. Have some metric. I gotta find out how big a welder my neighbor has for the motor mounts if we fab them up instead of buying 'em. I hear the best way to make them is mount the Dodge set on the Cummins while it's in the truck and then figure out what you need to do to connect them to your frame. Lots more questions to answer. And lots of money to do this so we'll see how much I'm able to acquire in the new year.

Do you go to the high school in Springville? Speaking of projects, how's yours coming along? You have a strong truck there for your PS. Nice kingpin Dana 60. Tell me more about it. Let me know what else you want to know.
