welcome. And my 2 cents on a fun build would have to be the 12 valve, i have had 2 first gens and you just cant be the performance and reliability, oh yea and they start no matter what temperature.

the rods you are thinking of are called PMR's, they are in the 00+ if you buy a 95-97 powerstroke you will have forged rods they are good for 500+ im a fan of the powerstoke and love my OBS(old body style).
