Hello, DB. I just joined the forum. I have a 2007 GMC Sierra Crew Cab with a Duramax and Allison tranny. It's the only diesel I've ever owned and pretty much the only non-Ford I've ever owned (I prefer the Duramax to Ford's current diesel offering; what can I say?).
I live in central California and work in the dairy/agriculture industry. My truck's not a work truck, though. It's a toy and toy-hauler.
