Glad to be part of the group. Good stuff here. This is a good story for new to CTD like me. I just purchased a 04.5 CTD 209k miles. I was towing a 10k LB trailer and it started "missing" and blowing black smoke. Got it home and it was blowing white smoke, no blowby, no making oil lots of fuel smell from the pipe. I was told injectors by a local shop...replaced the injectors $3300 + labor...worse white smoke. Oh and a popping sound from the exhaust. They didn't compression test or borescope when replacing the injectors. Next the head came off to see what was going on $850...any guesses? I'll tell ya, burnt exhaust valve and a melted piston.
