rotted oil pan
I am about to replace the oil pan on my 2000 7.3 also while I am doing that I am replacing the rear main seal.I plan on an all day project, any tips from anyone would be appreciated before I start. thanks
Yes - you have to pull the engine - NO - you don't have to remove the cab (its a 7.3, not 6.0)
also... why replace the RMS? They are usually, say 99%, never bad... likely a leak on the top of the engine at the turbo or hpop o-rings, or possibly even the dip stick tube... fills up the valley and then runs down the back of the engine, appearing to be a rear main seal leak.
Hope this helps - sounds like a heckuva project!
