Default Fast on stock fuel

Primary use is D D. Random towing upto10k
I have a goal to improve mpg to 40ish through aerodynamics . Bone Stock was 18.6mpg. (16-22.7) avg now is 24mpg (22-29) hafeway to my goal. Now days if I dropped to 22 miles per gallon I'm looking for broken parts on my truck or a flat tire. Added a 16cm and wraped the exhaust manifold from the head bolts to the v-band clamp + titanium t-3 blanket. ( didnt go all the way to the injectors for fear of messing up the thermal dynamics the injectors). Under hood temperatures improve significantly I can stop at the top of a grade and touch the turbo or anything else under the hood accept the downpipe. 1000° pull@92.5mph 7% grade the IR temp gun says 170-250 manifold 150-225 turbocharger.
A custom made camper shell (I call it an aero tonto cover) opens like a tono but at the top of the cab. Can fit a full ton of wood pellets under the lid with enough room to use a forklift to load the pallet (over 4' hi) Function over form. Wind tunnel tested 24% reduction of drag.
I am limiting modds to bolt on till after I'm satisfied that I've used up the aerodynamic advantages.(no turning of the screws). I'm currently researching a turbo they will spool when there's fuel. Most turbos don't start spooling until 2000 RPM on the dyno that's where the defueling of the governor starts. (Oem) boost drops from 17psi(manifold) to 10psi by gov limits (2500). 250' spool To me it sounds like I have a grosely oversized turbo 1-2psi at 65mph pin it and 8sec to 17psi . Im lookingat a Switch Blade S362SXE with the small waste gate housing or a stock borg S362SXE with a BD diverter valve.

If you're looking for faster spool up, and fuel mileage, don't look at larger turbos and frame sizes.

I would look at something in the 60mm range with a 12cm wastegated housing. Old school, but they work well. If you jump up to a 362, then it will take more fuel/heat in order to drive the charger.

Agreed. A bigger turbo is harder to spool with out improving its efficiency . The BD Spool Valve/ Diverter Valve and the Switchblade reduces the CM of the ehxaust by ~ hafe. Eg. A 12cm becomes a 6cm. The BD diverts all flow through the rear valute of a devided exhaust housing. The Switchblade has a moving shroud that forces all the flow around the snail to the small end increasing velocity/force. Both improve I/E manifold pressure raito.
I have lioked at the S360 ,I am hoping togo for the improved efficiency technology in the SX E (SE , but no SX E listed for the 60mm)
frame size
The BD is offered in T3/T4, T4/T4, and T4/T6 no T3/T3. The Switchblade is available in T3 or T4 , I'll go T3 if I decide this option.
Both are tunable for were they start opening, out of the box the BD starts opening at 12psi and is full open by 18 psi.90-98% of driving will be in the full closed position.
HX35 I have seen devided waste gated housings down to 8cm ,4cm with eather valving this should spool below 2000rpm but chocking up top. (Not till after a 3200gov)

thanks glad you like the topper. I put a lot of thought into, a proper form Vs function balance.
It dose open fully. Aero Tonto fully opens for top loading by front loader, no shoveling needed.

Even with a spool valve or any other device, you are still spinning the same mass. Yes the spool time will come down. But, i do not see it improving your fuel mileage anywhere near enough to pay for the parts.

I would not look at any S300 for your setup. Far too much mass for the intended purpose. I would probably call up Zach at North American and get one of his stock housing hybrids. I think it would fit the bill for what you are requesting.

If your end goals are different than what you stated, then take what I said and throw it out.

Default progress

I put a HX35W/12 on in Feb with in 2 weeks I fraged out the 4th gear planitary. Insted of a 47rh or 48RM(manual valve body) swap I did a Allison 1000 6sp swap. Basicly same gear sets as a 46/47/48RH + 1more gear below 1st and 1more gear above 4th. Got the trans from Hulon Fox Transmissions of Dallas, TX $5000 warranted for 1800 tq so now I have a transmission that will handle more than a VE is capable of.

I got a hell of a deal on a BD Super B 600 Turbo Kit - Dodge 2007.5-2012 6.7L 2nd gen swap kit - S366/80 T3 0.80AR... Came with a 3-3 2pc round port manifold and 4"downpipe (3rd gen 2nd gen swap kit ) 1200 shiped. Compaired to 2500 for a s362

6sizes too big I know. But it is proforming better than the hx35w/12 I hung in Feb. 1.5 sec to go from 5psi to 21psi with a custom 2into1 t3 adaptor/spacer . I'll be mesuring tbe back pressure tomorrow.

Default BD QSV

BD QSV ( quick spool valve) is working like magic on the hx35 but will not clear the wastegate protrusion of the S366.(I called BD to try and get the "end mounted" actuator for use w/BW's turbine housing but it's no longer available)
5psi with the front tires about halfway through the crosswalk at a stoplight. About half a wheelbase , hit 2nd gear and jump 10psi by the end of the shift. 15psi by the end of 2nd(= to 1st in a RH46/518) hit 3rd 20psi by the completion of 2-3 shift.(= 1-2 shift RH46/518).

Cooled 50-100° off EGT accrost the bord.
1psi is now 26°EGT above idle in Neutral (276° idle 302° 1psi) with a 8° rise @the compressor elbow 32°f @intake

cht1=coolent @rad outlet
Cht2= IAT @manifold
Cht3= charge air temp @compressor elbow
This is a screen shot of my MGL Avionics blaze TC-6 12ch k-type EGT/CHT gage that will be monitoring each cylinders EGT separately and up to 6 more items.
