Glad to be part of the group. Good stuff here. This is a good story for new to CTD like me. I just purchased a 04.5 CTD 209k miles. I was towing a 10k LB trailer and it started "missing" and blowing black smoke. Got it home and it was blowing white smoke, no blowby, no making oil ;) lots of fuel smell from the pipe. I was told injectors by a local shop...replaced the injectors $3300 + labor...worse white smoke. Oh and a popping sound from the exhaust. They didn't compression test or borescope when replacing the injectors. Next the head came off to see what was going on $850...any guesses? I'll tell ya, burnt exhaust valve and a melted piston.
