Hi,
I have a 2003 Dodge 3500 that I use to tow my 36' 5th wheel along with other tasks. After about 40k miles, I installed a Golden Fuels kit to burn vegetable oil that I have access to. The oil is filtered down to 2 microns and heated to operating temperature before the change-off. To date, the engine has had no issues because of the oil.
CP3 issues. At about 30k miles, I noticed a slight ticking noise from the injection pump. As the miles increased … so did the noise. I need a new pump at 38k miles. The pump was a goner (lost my core deposit). At 78k miles … it's de javue … all over again. My thinking is that the use of oil would have minimal consequence on the second pump.
I did add 60 hp injectors at the time of adding the second injection pump. That may add additional stress to the pump .. but need to ask you guys. I know this addition has added stress to the driver. I have spun the stock clutch twice when putting my foot into it. A new clutch is on the list.
My six-speed is a little noisy … but I have heard worse.
I really like my cummins. One you try diesel … you will never go back!!
