Default Planning a Project

Well I am new to Diesel Bombers but not to Diesels or being under the hood of something. I have had numerous old muscle cars over the years and a few Dodge Diesels.

I am putting together plans for a daily driver mid 90's 4x4 2500 Suburban that I am going to pick up with a 454. My plan is to purchase a 96-98 12v 4x4 5 speed 2500 Dodge either wrecked or rusted and put the drive train, axles, and whatever else needed into a suburban so I can actually take my family on trips and get mileage and pull a trailer.

If anyone has any ideas or it has been done before (I am 99% sure it has on this site) I would appreciate the direction.

Thanks!

Alan.
