new to the truck world and doing this. I own a 2000 yukon xl 2500. Great family truck, but doesnt fit my rescent desicion to own a 32' travel trailer and climb hills @ 104' and above. I think i like the Duramax diesel /w ms. allison, but my neighbor swears by the ford 7.3. I am open to what ever is reliable, and of course the best( which i hear is the cummins inline 6.)but what do i know. oh yeah why are there so many more ford trucks on the market, esp. 2004 and above. need to know so i can do what is right(protect my family in STYLE and IN awsomeness) just kidding. thanks-first time doing this. da

The reason you see a lot of the fords in that year range is because of the 6.0L motor. That motor has had a lot of recalls, campaigns, and just to many problems. In my opinion that is the worst diesel ford put in there trucks.
The 7.3L is a great motor
The duramax is another great motor, but i'd never buy one of the origanals when they first came out because of issues. But they have gotten better since then.
The cummins motor is another great motor. I have a 12 valve and love it.
And the 24valve is also a great cummins, nut there are things needed to be done to help the motor last.
