Hey folks, glad to finally have joined up here. Been a long time diesel voyeur but could never seem to come up with the combination of funds and excuses to get the Cummins 12v I had always dreamed of. It started as an itch in my early teens when I developed a Mopar obsession, and later evolved into an oil burner craze. I have minimal resources so have always had to settle for gas burners. Well I finally happened into a deal on a 1987 MB 300D with 120k miles. With the blessing of my better (and softer) half, I made the deal. Thanks for all the info I got here before I made the purchase. I really felt like I at least had some idea what I was getting into as a result. As I get her cleaned up (the Merc, not the better half!) I'll try to get a thread going. I'll be looking to optimize efficiency, not go fast. I'll probably start with going through the recalls with the dealer because some obviously haven't been done.
