I had a '73 W-100 with a 360 for a while. Had to buy the Chilton's manual for it, and saw that way-back-when there was a 6-cyl Perkins available for the 200 and 300-series trucks. I think that one had the same 359CI displacement as a Cummins 5.9.
---------added on edit..... my mind was picturing the little D-50, and the little Isuzu P'up rather than a D-150.... Probably slower'n crap in a fullsize truck, but, maybe nicer balanced and smoother than a 4BT.

My dad had the Perkins engine in his boat.... they are supposedly a 5.9 liter engine based on the Cummins blueprint but built in the UK...
They came in the W250 as he got a W250 truck with the boat as a parts donor for his marine engine...
These Perkins' could take the marine 390hp bolt on kit and hold up to it with ZERO problems...
I even think these had a BOSCH inline fuel pump, P7100?
But i think he's talking about the Mitsubishi 6DR5, this is a pretty good engine that takes a lot of bashing, my friend got one out of a boat and stuck it in his MMC L200 (that's the Dodge D50/Isuzu Pickup from Mitsubishi) it didn't have a Turbo on it but i bet the one they used in the D150 Dodges would have one since it is a heavier truck...

Everything works but the windshield wipers and I haven't dug into them yet.
It drives well and will almost pull straight up into thin air.
Turns around better than I recall these old Dodge's doing.

LOL, this is the exact same engine my friend got from that boat and stuck in his L200...
Great find, a half-ton Diesel...
Get her restored and keep it... not really sure if it would benefit you anything to advance timing on it or add more fuel... that thing doesn't have a turbo... but you might try adding propane, my friend did that and he swears it pulls better
The consumption on these is amazing, you will easily see 40mpg on his L200, yours might be a bit worse though...

Thanks, I'd say that's the only 12 bolt it could be.
I'd love to boost it, but, I think I'll focus on getting everything back like it came.
Oh, the key doesn't kill it, a pull rod does and I do need to diagnose the kill thing over the starter motor and see why it was disconnected.
The automatic glow plug switch/indicator has also been bypassed.

I've seen less than ten on the net since I started searching.
Having owned something under 4000 non-motorcycle vehicles, fooled with cars/trucks my whole life, this is the first one I ever saw or heard of......
An online registry for them may be a good idea.
I'd be surprised if 500 of them still survive with many of them dying of rust.
I was thinking of grabbing some air from in front of the radiator and seeing if the torturous path through the filter being eliminated helped things.
It doesn't get hot at all and even has two valves in the exhaust manifold to recirculate heat and help it warm up faster.
Interesting is that the factory calls for a 7psi radiator cap in the owners manual supplement that came with it and the radiator is tiny.
