Default dissatisfied with cat

alright well to start it off we got two machines down in two days, one is a 320CL that is pissing coolent out of the head some where, and the second is a D5G XL that is making some horrible knock and rattleing noise and the harmonic balancer is wobbling, the hoe is a 2001 and the dozer is a 2002, there both maintained excilently and dont have a rediculous amount of hours, also we have another 320CL i was looking at it and the tag says MADE IN CHINA that machine is a 2006 and the stick is already loose, we also got a 315C and that thing is loose as can be, this stuff gets used but dont get beat on, the quality of cats machinery has really gone down hill lately sorry for the rant but i just had to let it out

I've never cared for Cat hoes and most of the hoes made are made in China. I wouldn't say there quality has gone down but they sure don't build them like they use to. I've always had good luck with JD/Hitachi hoes and JDs smaller dozers, but no brand is perfect.

well got some update on the equipment, the hoe has 3900 hours on it, it blew the headgasket on cylander 3 and wore away a spot on the head and the block, its $10000 to fix the motor thats in it and $16000 to replace the motor, as for the dozer the harmonic balancer was bad and that was about $1000, my boss hung up with the cat dealer and said hmm maybe next time we will look at deeres

3900 isn't a huge amount of hours, but it certainly isn't "fresh" either.

Alot depends on how the operator cares for a machine, does it get warmed up properly, cooled down properly? I have seen soooo many people shut down a machine after working it quite hard, and not even idle down.....

alright i got a few words about the hoe, well its got a brand new motor, we ended up paying $7000 for it because cat and the dealer milton cat worked out a little deal because the same day another 320C L came in and was parked right next to it with the headgasket blown in the same spot and the same damage was done, even though i am unsatisfied with cat the service and customer support is the best
