Default Silencer Ring

I have a buddy that was charged 35 buck to have his silencer ring taken out of his LLY. I didnt think you could take them out of the duramaxes. I may be wrong can someone clarify for me. Thanks...

As far as i know only the cummins have a removable silencing ring.

That was what I thought but I figured I double check here. I told him he got jacked outa 35 bucks. Thanks.

The plastic thing on the top that says 6.6 is suppose to work as a silencer. I took it off the one we had and you could hear it better but nothing spectacular, not worth $35. In the picture, the place circled in yellow, you put one of those rubber stoppers with the wingnut on top in there and put that big plastic piece back on. It really isn't worth doing though unless you swiss cheese the air box.

As said above they do not have a silencer ring, more like a box. You can buy a plug at Home Depot or Lowes for about $2 and accomplish the same thing. If nothing else it will clean up the engine bay some.....

He still has the box on top, i told him they took him.

Actually you can plug it and then reinstall the Silencer over top of it...but yeah he got taken.
