Yeah that was the amazing thing about the swap is that when he was done it looked like it BELONGED there. Looked amazingly stock.

There are some DMax GN's with twins.

and hella cool, too. The most famous one is actually an Oldsmobile Cutlass that was cloned into a GNX. Got around the emissions nightmares because it was originally a 5.7 diesel Cutlass. Sneaky...

we've never had a problem swapping dashs, never had to program them, we've used 2001 dashs in a 03, i bought the 01 dash off ebay for a friend of mines 2003 and i helped him put it in the truck, we've swapped dash clusters about 15 different times with 10 different trucks.......

99-02 are direct replacement as long as it's from one 2500/3500 to another. 03 and up REQUIRES programming because the BCM changed and GM completely changed the Class II databus communications as well as added numerous options. If the cluster didnt have the exact same options as the existing truck several functions wont work. The DIC wont function and you will loose all the user input programmability as well as the steering wheel controls. Most of the time the trans temp wont work either.

only thing that didnt work on the one i bought was the speedometer and that is cause the stepper motor was bad, common problem, we didnt care though, it kept the miles off the factory dash, all the dashes were from the same type of truck, duramax with an allison......

The stepper motors in the factory GM dashes are crap. They work good for about two years and then eventually give up the ghost or read wide open.

yeah we got the trailer on the back with the 6500lbs pulling truck and its reading like 90 mph and we are doing about 55, then it goes to 25 mph and bounces around some, every once in a while it will read right.....so we just go off rpms, we know how many rpm's it takes with a certain load behind it to go a certain speed.....this is a farm truck so it tows ALOT.....
