About the half ton diesel? Same goes true for GM, Dodge (or Fiat whatever), and Ford. if anyone's going to make a half ton diesel, its going to be Toyota or Nissan.

thats highly doubtful, neither have a diesel engine ment for a light pickup, GM has the 4.5 ready to go, all they need is a reason to drop it in, Ford has the 4.4 and its already in use in the land rover(in europe) and dodge has access to the 5.0L v8 cummins, all could be easily tooled up to start production in a few months, it would take nissan and toyota considerably longer to get a diesel half-ton into production

thats a special project, its not necessarily going to be in a nissan, just cummins and another company playing with the idea of a fullsize pickup with 30mpg plus fuel mileage

That's actually a joint venture between DOE, Nissan and Cummins. 30 million dollars worth, with the tax payers fronting 15 million. Just like Cummins did in the late 80's with Dodge, they're doing it again with Nissan.

Cummins went to every manufacturer with this engine and Nissan was the only one that showed real interest. So don't believe for a minute that it means nothing.

Bad part is its supposed to be in test form only for a few more years before its released.
