Kind of a late reply here but can't say that I agree with " If you mod the crap out of it do not expect it to last. Ford, Chevy and Dodge all have good engineering and are built for a specific application" take the 6.0 psd's the engineers desided to use chitty torque to yeild bolts and not enough of them in the heads the egr system in them is also troublesome from what ive seen more so then in a d-max or cummins, if you put arp head studs in and delete that egr the motor will last alot longer.

my dad has a 2011 duramax lml and let me tell you even though it has all the emissions crap and that i am a cummins guy all the way, his dmax smokes my buddys 6.7 cummins that has delete kit and smarty i beat him off the line and hold him for a little ways then he barley win those dmaxs are pretty sweet truck. and the older durmaxs are wicked with efi live

Looks like this old thread is being reincarnated and given new life.

I researched my first diesel purchase for months before I finally decided on my 07 LMM Duramax. I've had it for a little over a year now and I still love it.
