i found a spot on HERE that says ford will use the "3.6-liter turbodiesel V-8 that makes 267 hp and 472 pounds-feet of torque in the Range Rover" by 2009 in the 1/2 tons.

i'm glad they're finally doing this. for a guy like me that doesn't NEED a 3/4 ton but wants a diesel p'up this is a really nice deal.

to bad you cant get one of these 10 years old now so all the bugs are worked out and it's a little easier on the wallet. They should have been doing this for a long time.

Do you guys think the big V6's will do better than the small V8's? It seems like everything has gone crazy. They are advertising half ton V6's with more power than a 1 ton truck a few years ago?

gm tried three times in the past to do it. the 5.7, 6.2, and the 6.5. the 5.7 cost them a butt load of money, the 6.2 was n/a so it didn't make much power and the 6.5 suffered from a lot of injector pump issues. out of all of them the 6.5 is a pretty decent motor and you can pick up one in a half ton if you look hard for it. even a few tahoes, yukons, and burbans running around yet.

yah bud you got it right. supposedly from what i read it's a modified version of the 3.6 v-8 in the rovers. supposed to be between 4.4 to 4.6 liters displacement.

that link don't work for you? anybody else?

yeah i remember the GM 6.5's but i didnt really ever consider them a hot seller. Maybe this will be the big boost for diesel? It just scares me with how much more emissions crap they will be able to think up with diesel engines getting so big.
