There is a simple answer. Find out if AC Delco makes an OEM replacement filter for the CTD's with the same specs. (CFM & media) as the OEM Duramax filter.

Unless I am missing what your after here. Do you want to try and put an OEM Duramax intake system onto a Dodge?

Thanks Nate. Ya I'm into simple, if I can just pickup a scrap yard Duramax intake and install it would be the goal. When you talkin OEM, CFM, Media material and all the various specs, your a little out of my league. I prefer to leave the scientific studies to the great minds on here.

If you like I could post some pics or whatever you what of mine. But my(06+) OEM filters are about $60 they are the cone type and should last a while especially with the lower(?) flow of the 5.9. They come with a filter minder and mine hasn't moved much at 20K on it.

Ok I see where we're going now.

I'd take a stab at emailing AC Delco to see if they make a filter equivilant to the A1618C (one from the test) to fit into a XX year Dodge CTD. Would save some fab work. And ofcourse if they don't then you can hack away at getting the Duramax set-up to fit.

Could also hit the GM boards and see if anyone would part with their set-up that has gone to an aftermarket.

Thank you for writing ACDelco, Mr. Durbin.

We appreciate the e-mail requesting information on an air filter
element
for use with your 1998 Dodge Ram. Our system indicates that our
ACDelco #
A1341C (GM# 25175326) is the correct air filter for your application.

Please know we can only provide part replacement information according
to
the manufacturers specifications. We cannot assist you with part
information for vehicle modifications. A1618C is not recommended for
use
with your vehicle.

If we can assist you in the future please visit our website again or
call
us at 1-800-ACDelco.

Thank you for your interest in ACDelco.

Received that from AC Delco this afternoon. Sent a reply trying to get alil more information out of em as to if the A1341C and A1618C share similar filtering media and level of performance. I have a feeling I'm not going to get anything definte other then they meet the manufacturers spec's. So we'll see what happens.

Anything new Delco on this.

Without havin to go into Einstein's threory of relativity, what would stop a guy from just taking the Duramax filter and mounting it on my intake. To much air, to little not enough fitering or any other problems that my little brain doesn't know about.
