Default Looking at an 04 Duramax

Looking at an 04 Duramax with 180,000 miles on it. What are some things I should be looking for? Any know problems with this year? Its been a one owner truck so thats gives me some sort of assurance that its not been takin care of too bad. Heres a link eBay Motors: Chevrolet : Silverado 2500 (item 220332401672 end time Dec-22-08 08:32:30 PST)

Let me know what you guys think. I dont know crap about the Duramax I'm a Cummins guy.
Thanks
Brian

By looking at the vin number 1GCHK23154F173951 It is a LB7 motor. Thats a nice tuck but it has 180k miles on it, which means 20k more miles and you would be not covered anymore by the injector warranty.

but 04's haven't had as much problems as the earlier trucks. i would get the Vin checked to see if it has had any injector problems in the past.

FYI if the 8th digit in the vin is a 1 it is a LB7 motor, 2 means its a LLY motor and D means its a LBZ

You cant go wrong with the duramax. like what was stated the LB7 had injector probs but again see if you can get a background check and see if it had injectors put in it. Or you can shop around a little more and see what else you can find.. I just got a steal on a 2006 GMC DMAX LLY/6 speed allison. $15,000 with 90,000miles!! amd good luck what ever you do.

Looks like a nice truck. He didn't cheap out on mods, it does NOT look like a kids truck.

In theory, the 04 LB7 had all the bugs worked out of the injectors......in theory. Should be fine

Look for leaks on the tcase it maybe Pump rub. A clip breaks in the case letting the pump rub through the case. The case is Mag. and part of it would have to be replaced. There is an aftermarket fix for this (preventive), but it is a problem on all dmaxs and you never know when it going to go.
