i put a 4"MBRP cat back on my truck when i first got it (just over a year ago) a few weeks ago i decided to put in the down pipe. so now i'm running 4" all the way back with no cat and no muffler, i love the way this thing sounds.
anyways i was told to check the glove box and there is a list of codes in there if you see an FE9 code (mine was in the 3rd row 4 or 5 down, i think it depends on year) this means its not a Federal Emissions truck so getting rid of the cat wont throw a code. i have an 07 classic and no codes as of yet.
i will be placing an order for my PPE with in the next week or two, i have heard nothing but good things about PPE and customer service being top notch. from what i understand you can run level 3 (160 hp) without any problems you will see the best MPG and power ratings. PPE power rattings are measured from the fly wheel so level 3 should be about a 100 hp gain at the rear wheels, well within the limits of the stock trans.......................from what i understand at least.
please correct me if i'm wrong

I would say you heard wrong for daily driving most likely you will evenly kill your trans with a 160 HP tune. Whats safe for the trans, a 40RWHP tune. Some guys get away with running 60+ HP tunes, but I wouldn't very often if I couldn't afford to do the trans. Now if you keep it out of 5th and 6th gear you will get away with the bigger tunes. A hand full of guys sled pull in 4low and 4th with 500HP tunes and a stock trans not that its going to last forever.

I agree with Dozerboy.. I have an 07 classic LBZ as well.. 4" mbrp turbo back, no kitty.. and I run a bullydog programmer.. and on the 120 tune Ive limped my trans now several times.. Maybe if you drive like a granny you can get it to last a bit longer.. but its best to put a trans in BEFORE you go with PPE or efi live..
anything over the 60 tune can and will hurt your trans if u drive it like you should..
gauges, exhaust, intake, trans, programmer... if I had it all to do over again thats the order I would have went in.. but nooo.. I didnt know this site exsisted so I did programmer, exhaust, gauges, and trans is on the way.. and Im regretting it @ 30,000 miles..
