Now why would they get rid of the block heater plugin? That is just plain stupid. Then what good is it to have a diesel in the winter? W/o blockheaters good luck getting a diesel started below 32 degrees.

i need a block heater but there pretty expensive.i can start it at 30 but its very rough and smokes alot. its pretty quiet inside the car with a little vibration. you can hear the turbo from inside. its noisy outside and you can easily tell its a diesel. i was in a empty long parking lot once and my dad picked me up in it . he drives fast too and he went by me at full boost and that thing sounded sweet at full boost and 4000 RPMs. the only problem i had with it was i was on the highway and a ballbearing from the turbo broke free and hit and broke my oil pump. well with no oil it broke my entire engine exept for the cylinder head so VW wanted 10 grand so they could fix it. i had it under warranty so they fixed it for free. that kinda pissed off the dealership

maybe because the manfactuers think the glowplugs will warm up the engine enough.

The Duramax was designed to with a self powered automatic block heater that is supposed to kick on when the block gets a certain temp. I have had no problems with my Duramax. It got to -35 my senior year one day and it started right up no hard starts or anything.

To add to that story earlier.... the next class day i was on my way to class and the kid with the 6.0 went blowin past me to egg me on so i stomped it and caught him and past him and when we got to class he was tryin to tell the Cummins guys that he beat me and they were just shakin their heads. So for that he had his truck in one of the bays so i pulled in front of the door crossways and started power braking and filled the bay with a big cloud of black smoke. He was so pissed and the instructor just laughed.
