Well, it goes further than that. How deep you want to go?

Simple answer is eliminating the DPF, and using a programmer....bla bla bla.

Longer answer, if you drive the truck as it was designed (towing) odds are the system may never need regen or only for a short time. The only time the DPF gets 'clogged' is when useing the truck like a car or sitting at idle for a long time.

Brings me to another thing; If you still refuse to drive your truck as it was designed and the DPF gets to 150% restricted, it sends you into limp mode. Only way out is towing it into the dealer and having a tech use the Tech2 and force a regen.....which is most impressive. This is what we did in class, the truck slowly climes the rpm up to 2200 and egt at 1100* until the DPF reads 0% restriction which could take up to 45 minutes. Get the hotdogs and marshmellows out

We only let it run for about 10-15 min just to see how it worked, then aborted the test, but it's safe to say to will burn a LOT of fuel. It won't even let you do it if the tank is low.

GM wanted 1800 for a new exhaust from muff back; They are on Crack. I imagine my bro uses his regen because he doesn't tow with it, buit does a lot of highway miles.

Highway driving still won't give you enough constant high EGTs to 'burn' the soot.
